2012 Vigil at the Tomb

2012 Vigil at the Tomb

The Vigil at the Tomb began after the Tenebrae service on Good Friday (4/6/12) where we portrayed two guards at the tomb of Jesus.  The event continued till 1:00 AM on Saturday, then begin again at 7:00 AM till 1:00 AM on Sunday (4/8/12).  At 5:00 AM on Sunday, an angel replaced the guards welcoming in Easter morning, and the SonRise Service scheduled to begin at 6:00 AM. Greeters welcomed curious visitors and provide them an explanation of the passion story.

2013 Vigil at the Tomb (VaaT)

At a "tomb" built alongside Sleepy Hollow Road, volunteers portrayed the guards posted at the tomb on Jesus to ensure the Disciples did not steal Jesus' body and claim He was resurrected.  They remained in-place from Good Friday evening until Easter morning.  Just before sunrise, the guards fled and were replaced by an angel and woman at the empty tomb.
